Everything is illuminated

My roommate (Hi Anne!) and I want to put a pub table with stools in our kitchen and I'm thinking a pendant lamp from above would pull the look together really well. Here are some of the styles I've been salivating over during my search.

[Capiz Shell Floral Pendant Light, $339.99 at Target]

[Pleated Pendant, $139 at West Elm]

[Ikea PS Maskros, $89.99 at Ikea]

[Regotlit shade, $6 at Ikea]

Pearls of wisdom

On sale for $75 (used to be $125) at jcrew.com:

...get it -- pearls of wisdom?

All you need is loft

I have total loft envy -- did you know this? Check out the listing for this beautiful loft for rent on Lincoln Street in the Leather District, listed at loftsboston.com. Can you say SWOON?

Connected to the bedroom is a freight elevator which has been converted into a darkroom. If photography isn't your thing, then it'll make for a pretty sweet walk-in closet.

'Tis (almost) the season!

...what, too soon? Go easy on me - it snowed this week in Boston.

I've always loved the idea of sending holiday cards. Each year I look forward to the stream of thick, hardy envelopes and the beautiful cards they protect. I like to go through them one by one, taking mental notes of my favorites. There are the photographic cards, which track the physical evolution and growth of family and friends over the past year. Then there are the beautiful winter scenes, the religious cards, the non-denominational holiday greetings, and the well wishes for a happy new year. Here, I've rounded up some of my favorite letterpress designs found on Etsy. Though sort've pricey, (the cards I'll use this year I bought for 50% off during the post-holiday sales, woo!), I'm really loving all of these whimsical, sometimes cheeky letterpress designs -- even if I can only gaze upon them over the internet.

Got baggage

Perfect for anything from a weekend getaway or a trip to the gym -- my favorite part is all the delightful colors these Wm. J. Mills & Co. canvas duffels ($100 - $160, depending on size) come in.

Love the Heidi braids

So there are these shoes...

...and I really want them. The only problem? I don't know where to find them!

Have a look - here they are, so beautifully complementing a pair of jeans from The Gap's new 1969 line. (Which, let me just say, looks pretty fantastic. And they're all under $70 a pop.) Anyway, back to the shoes. I've been doing some digging on Piperlime and a couple other places, and I can get close... but haven't hit a home run yet. I even went so far as to email the Gap customer service people. They told me, "These shoes are either props provided by our advertising company, or are those worn by our models to the production." Alas, here are some potential alternatives. What do you think? Which are your favorites? I'm leaning toward numbers two, five, and eight.

[Jessica Simpson, Clonise, $79]

[Nine West, Balboa, $69.99]

[Frye, Dara T-Strap, $89.99]

[BCBGirls, Slim, $89.99]

[Charles by Charles David, Gaze, $109.99]

[Charles David, Royce, $129.99]

More guys should dress like this

Clean, crisp, tailored, all-American classic and still decidedly masculine. Nice work, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Call me. (Lose the cigarette though, thanks.)

Playing house

Here's a glimpse at how I've set up things at the place in Cambridge. Still to come: a closer look at the side table, which is just a couple of stacked, vintage suitcases.

Vintage rowing print

Look what I bought on Etsy! It's from this fabulous seller named SurrenderDorothy (I know, amazing name, right?) who has all this great vintage stuff, including a lot of prints.

[1923 Young Women's Sculling Club, London, $14.89, Etsy]

Here are some more of the prints she has for sale:

It did not match the curtains

Here's the carpet I saw in one of the casinos during my trip to Las Vegas earlier this year. Aren't the colors just fantastic? I could even see this photo blown up really big, framed, and hung on the wall like an abstract piece of art.

What I bought: BAMBAKO

Just purchased this adorable, feather-adorned headband for $12 from the online shop BAMBAKO. I'll be sure to update y'all with a photo once I wear it!

Etsy shop I love: bittersugar

Oregan-based letterpress maven Nik Bresnick of bittersugar dreams up these whimsical, frame-worthy prints:

Though she doesn't have a lot for sale, I absolutely love everything that's in there, so I definitely plan to keep an eye on it in the months to come. Check out her full Etsy shop here.

Happy hump day - 6.03.09

I'm really digging the work of Paul Costello lately. He's shot a ton of great interiors for magazines like Domino (RIP), Elle Decor, Town and Country, etc. But there's so much more in his repertoire than strictly interiors. Definitely worth checking out.
