Portobello Road in Edgartown

I was lucky enough to spend some time on Martha's Vineyard recently, visiting some family and friends, and was introduced (by my cousin Kristine) to this amazing store called Portobello Road.  I was actually on the island earlier this year on assignment for the Globe to write about shopping and completely missed this place (I believe it was closed for the season when I was there in the spring.)  It's now my new must-visit shop for all island adventures!

Friday Find: Newspaper bag

The Delvaux newspaper bag at Monocle will set me back a cool £1,500.  In my dreams, right?  Has anyone seen something similar with a pricetag for mortals?

October is for adventure

{Louis Vuitton images via Limite Magazine}

Lots of fun travels and adventures on the horizon this month -- headed to Martha's Vineyard for a few days, then to Maine next weekend, and back on the Vineyard the next.  Be sure to check back to see all of my fabulous finds!  In the meantime, let's all daydream about a luxe vacation outfitted by Louis Vuitton.

Ode to maps: not all who wander are lost

(some are just finding their way home.)

Thinking a lot lately about setting a course of direction -- whatever that may be, we'll see.

Friday Find: Parachute bag

The sturdy, classic bags from the good people at Wm. J. Mills & Co. are reminiscent of a simpler time, when a product was built to last and it actually delivered on such a promise. You may remember when I first professed my love for their colorful duffles.

May I introduce you now to, the Parachute Bag:

{so roomy, yet still compact!}

From their site: "Constructed from #8 cotton duck canvas, and machine washable...over and over. In time it will fade somewhat and take on a "soft shouldered" look, like an old friend. A 20 year life is not unheard of with this bag and we know because we have been making it that long."
